First What is ASCII art?
Ascii-art to include drawings and animations made by signs
included in the ASCII character set. Used to draw characters
directly accessible from a standard PC keyboard, except that such
accented characters specific to that language.
Ascii-art images are mostly composed of outlines. Filled
ascii-artists are rarer. Here is an example ascii-art:

See also the answers to the questions: 11 How to choose a signature?
and 15 How do I know who the author is drawing?
Third What is not ascii-art?
Ascii-art and pictures are NOT made by the conversion programs
graphics characters (eg gif2asc). They should not be sent to the group and pictures
made with their help (ie, later reworked, fine tuning), it
dress information of such of their origin.
It should also be distinguished from ascii-art ansi-art. Drawings and animations belong
to the second music 🙂 distinguished above all the use of codes
ansi control. Their use allows you to create animations and such
use of color. Ansi-artists usually are based on the expanded (in relation to
ASCII) character set. Such work should not be sent to the great-a.

4th What will be the ASCII character set?
ASCII (American Standard Code called for Information Interchange) is a system
in which all large and small letters, digits, punctuation marks and
special characters have been assigned numbers from 0 to 127
The main board contains 128 ASCII characters. Extended ASCII code of characters
ranging from 128 to 255 Characters outside the base plate are used to denote
mathematical symbols, simple graphics and a few characters
special, for example, can also define the Polish national characters.

Simply put: to draw in ascii-art use only those characters that are
directly reachable from a standard PC keyboard, the one that is:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ (code numbers: 65-90)
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz (code numbers: 97-122)
0123456789 (code numbers: 48-57)
[Space] (code number: 32)
! “# $% ^ & ‘() * +, -. / (Code numbers: 33-47)
:; <=>? @ (Code numbers: 58-64)
[] ^ _ `(Code numbers: 91-96)
{|} ~ (Code numbers: 123-126)
and two, with 32 control characters, denoted as CR and LF (numbered
codes 13 and 10). CR and LF are used to transition to a new line and set
cursor to the beginning. CR and LF on Windows are inserted by pressing
Enter key and are not visible in most editors.
In the drawings ascii not use any other control codes (with the numbers
code: 0-31) in addition to CR and LF! For example, the use of tabs, which in any editor
may have a different length can cause the drawings will be illegible.
The exception is the DEL – whose effect is visible fairly quickly
after pressing. 🙂

5th In letters to the great-and instead of pictures I run over dots, dashes, and other
stamps. What to do?
To correctly view ascii-art images should have a well-configured
Newsreader, which is set:

• Disproportionate font
• Automatic text wrapping – disabled or set to wrap
text after the example 100 characters

Automatic text wrapping (and drawings ascii-art) is a common problem
when viewing the drawings, the line length exceeds the declared
in setting the number of characters (in OE default: 72). The result is
“Shredded” ascii-artists, which can not be viewed. The solution is
wrap setting the example, 100 or more characters (up to OE 132).
Information about the configuration of Outlook Express and type of disproportionate
fonts, see the answers to questions: 6 How to configure Outlook
Express to read and send messages to great-a? and 7 In what font

6th How to configure Outlook Express to read and send messages to great-a?

After making these changes, make sure the OE sends and displays
correctly by sending test messages to a group pl.test letter.
7th In what font is best viewed ascii-art?
To properly view ascii-art use a monospaced font. To
check whether such a use, compare the length of the following lines:

[
]czo4MjpcIiAgICAgICAgICAgICBXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1cKICAgICAgICAgICAgIFdpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWl7WyYqJl19aWlpaWlpaWlpaVcKXCI7e1smKiZdfQ==[
]

It should be exactly the same, because each of the fonts
disproportionate to the same width.
Here is an example of the above lines in a proportional font:

[
]czoxNjA6XCIgICAgICAgICAgICAgV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXV1dXCiAgICAgICAgICAgICBpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWl7WyYqJl19aWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpJmx0O2NvZGUmZ3Q7CgogXyAgICAgICAgICAgICBfICAgICAgICAgICAgICBJbiB0aGUgY2FzZSBvZiBwcm9wb3tbJiomXX1ydGlvbmFsIGZvbnRzLApcIjt7WyYqJl19[
]

Examples of fonts are disproportionate:
-> Under Windows:

• Andale Mono
• Courier
• Courier New
• Crystal
• DEC Terminal
• HyperFont

• XEN
• XCourier
• Tiny
• Topaz

-> The AppleMac:

• Zterm

-> Under Linux:

• Andale Mono
• Bitstream-courier

• Courier new
• Lucidatypewriter
• Misc-fixed
• Sony-fixed
• Neep (JMK-fonts) ( www.jmknoble.net / fonts )

Ascii-art authors sometimes give in what font drew a picture.
They suggest therefore that the figure should be viewed in this font is to
see him in such a form in which the author created it.
Although well-made picture should also look good
monospaced font in all, it looks even, in some
better. The group sometimes breaks out war “czcionkowa” the superiority of one
font over another. You can compare it to the discussion about the superiority of Christmas
Christmas on Easter 🙂

8th Why in ascii-art does not use proportional fonts?
Ascii-artists have been invented to be able to watch them on any
machine, and for any system. Not every system has a font type ‘Arial’ or
‘Sans serif’, but everybody has a fixed-width font character.
Ascii-artists made in monospaced font looks like
regardless of the font used to watch this type. In the case of fonts
drawings will be proportional to vary strongly, and there is no guarantee
that anyone at all properly watch the figure!
Actually, it is not on it any chance … 🙂

author picture associated with your name, nickname, nickname or other

inconvenient to use, especially for the determination of small drawings. The most
signatures are used 2-3 character.
The signature should not include Polish letters and other characters prohibited

13th Is the picture drawn by the “Jave” is the ascii-art?
“Jave” (www.jave.de) is a program quite controversial. It has a whole bunch of options
greatly facilitate the drawing:

• Allows for any moving parts of the image (copy block),
• Have to paint over a large field,
• Is easier for drawing lines, rectangles, curves, etc.
• Possibility to turn on / off the grid,
• Quickly change the background and font colors (‘black on white’, ‘white on black’
‘Black on gray’),
• Quickly change the font defined,
• Ensure that the Article contains valid characters,
• Automatically remove extra spaces when writing,
• Change “working screen” at any time and quickly, without adding
additional spaces for each line
• Built-in figlet,
• Possibility to create new fonts ?atwego figletowych. You do not need to know
any secrets files. FLF, simply create each letter
and export.
It gives him a huge advantage over other known editors.

People help each other in draw lines, rectangle, curve, or the entire
drawing program “Jave”, sometimes adding the word “java” with his own signature,
thus indicating the use of the “boosters”, eg:

Sometimes, and without a claim may be noted that the figure did not come only
“Out of hand.” This is shown inter alia by different little matching
strange characters such that few others in their place would look a lot better.
The “Jave” has another tempting option for lazy artists lurking.
It is the watermark, which is able to insert the image in the background. As a result,
you can see exactly lines, edges and shapes, which helps in drawing, but
can “kill” creativity of the artist.
Believes that the picture is drawn under the “Jave” is the ascii-art or not, are
divided. A group of people think that ASCII art is the picture drawn
Only using a text editor, and some allow the use of
‘Javnych’ techniques for creating arts. Discussions to resolve
this issue is still alive, we invite you to a great-:)

Ascii artists can distribute provided they comply with the following
rules:
The most important rule is associated with signatures typically located in one
corner of the image, or wpl?tanymi in the drawing. Such a signature is normally
a number of letters, here’s an example:

Dissemination of mutilated ascii-art, is forbidden and reprehensible.
In doing so, people will not be welcome.
If you want to use a picture that has no signature, ask for
great-and who is its author. What so many pairs of eyes are better than one 🙂 If no one
will not know it every time you use this figure,
You must specify that you are not its author. This is best done by
inserting signatures into the drawing: [unknown] or [no_sig].

If you then get yourself to who is the author of the drawing, not
forget to let us know about it at great-a! We will be grateful to you all 🙂
Found the drawing can be used for a signature, but only under
Subject to the consent of the author / authors. Please ask for it, if

The author may restrict the right to copy his drawings, and should at this

is copied several times between news servers, archives, and users.
It is forbidden to reap the direct benefits
property of such a copy!
16th How do I know who the author is drawing?
