I could have made it bigger but then the letters wouldn’t have worked so well as eyes.
Update – The site is still going but I left. They headed in a different direction, making it about art instead of just being social. I don’t remember deleting my account (I may have) but the link is no longer there now (January, 2021).

Maybe you have seen ASCII art and didn’t know what it was.

Created in 1998, when I was just getting into the ASCII Art newsgroup, this was the first ASCII art picture I finished. I thought it wasn’t too bad. But I didn’t like it. Other people in the group at the time, like Joan Stark, were making much better art. I remember many others but unless you were there at the time you won’t know them.… Read the rest
Best viewed in a fixed width font. My favourite are FixedSys or Consolas.
The ASCII art gallery files open as plain text (.txt files). If you can’t see them (if they look messed up) change the font you are viewing them with.

I’ve just applied for the Clip Art topic at About.com. It would be great to get in and start promoting clip art and getting more people making their own graphics and even drawing.
