Santa and Sleigh for Christmas in ASCII Text Art

Small reindeers are not easy to make in ASCII art. I know because I have tried a few times over the years. The sleigh is the easiest part of Santa and his sleigh with the deers flying overhead.

They need some rooftops to be flying over. Otherwise they are just hanging in midair and you don’t get the feeling of them being in action.
When you were a kid did you look out your window on Christmas Eve, wondering if you could catch sight of Santa and his sleigh? Did you listen (for as long as you could stay awake) for any sounds of footsteps on the roof? We were lucky enough to even have a fireplace and we did leave milk and cookies faithfully each holiday. Sometimes Santa would even take a break from his travels and leave a note for us.
I grew up as the oldest of four kids. Soon I was the one helping my sisters to put out the Santa snacks, including a carrot for the reindeer. It was nice having younger siblings cause I never had to stop believing in Santa completely.

This year, on Christmas Eve, take the time to listen for Santa Claus, this sleigh and the reindeer.

Snowmen and Snow People in ASCII Text Art

The snowman is more than a Christmas tradition. We can make snowmen and snow people, snow villages even, all winter – as long as there is snow on the ground to roll up and stack. How do you decorate your snowmen? Do you keep a hat and scarf set just for your snowman, each year? Do you even have a pipe?

Snowmen are fairly easy to make in ASCII art. They can be made fancy by adding more details. It’s easier to add details on a larger sized snowman, of course. Give your Frosty some buttons, a scarf, a hat, a pipe, some mittens, a shovel, a broom, a hockey stick and puck, anything you can imagine creating. Make the snowman your own personal creation!

Think about what your favourite things about winter (sports, travel, decorating…?) are then add them to your snowman. You can take it out of the box and make a mug for hot chocolate then decorate it with a snowman. Don’t think you have to follow any standard pattern. As long as you can still recognize it as a snowman, or woman.

One nice thing about creating an ASCII art snowman… you don’t have to go out into the cold!

Spring and the Snowmen are Melting

The snowmen are long melted here. Mostly washed away by the rain. I wish it had been a better winter, with more snow. Milder winters seem sad, like we spend all this time talking about the weather, giving it a build up and then… it sputters along and turns into Spring without hardly getting started. I think the snowmen (snow people) would agree.
